I recently had the opportunity to meet an extraordinary man, whose life was tragically taken from us over this past weekend. I had just a few phone conversations with him and met with him a few hours at the weekends shows, but I could just tell he was a very well-liked and all around nice guy. He was the promoter of the Monster Nationals truck show that came to the Big Sandy Superstore Arena on January 9th and 10th. I know in the photography field it is hard to sometimes meet with promoters or sometimes they don’t speak to you at all. After talking with George and telling him I was working on my event portfolio, he was more than gracious to me by treating me as a professional. His life was cut short due to an accident at a show in Wisconsin over the weekend. After thinking about this for a few days and realizing how short life is, I just wanted to post a photo of mine at the opportunity he gave me. My prayers go out to his family.

It is hard to believe that my daughter is turning 5 today, but it is true. My little blue eyed princess is growing up on us fast. It seems like just the other day she was learning to walk, but now she is worried about having her hair perfect. I just want to let her know that Mommy and Daddy love her very much and hopes that she has a wonderful 5th Birthday.

On the 27th of January, my grandfather would be having his 80th birthday. Unfortunately, he passed in 1999. My Grandfather was a great man. I am sure that most say this about their grandfathers as well, but mine was GREAT! As a little guy, Papa was was such a big figure. I can remember going to their house and making a straight line to go and see Papa as soon as I got there. I can remember saying, “Hey Papa” and he would always say, “Hey Murt-Furt.” He had a nickname for all the grandkids. I know that he was able to see Jake after he was born, and I know in Heaven, he sees Hunter and my daughters, Marlie and Kaylie.

I have a couple of my Papa’s things that are very special to me and I wanted to keep them for my children. I have an old harmonica that I can remember him playing as a little guy. I can remember setting in front of Papa and just here him play some of his favorite tunes and just thinking he was great. I had the harmonica out the other day and I wanted to take a photo of it to remember him. To some people this photo is just a harmonica, but to me and my family it is Papa’s Harmonica.

The 2009 Monster Nationals season started this weekend at the Big Sandy Superstore Areana in Huntington, WVa. The event was filled with speed and destruction, from huge monster trucks racing and crushing the cars below to high flying motorcycles doing backflips. Basketball season is now in full swing, and I have been trying to cover some local basketball games in the area. I have caught several games at the middle school and high school level, and I have also had the opportunity to cover some college basketball.
